While I understand that wanting less government doesn't equate with anarchy, there are certainly a few within the tea party who take this to the extreme and question why we should have a government at all. Even a notable conservative like Grover Norquist once said "I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub." Liberals see this as extreme and rightly equate any view that would seek to eliminate government as not only anarchical, but unconstitutional. After all regardless of what feelings you may have about economic policy, it is the constitution that lays out what a liberal or conservative government can and cant do. It is also the constitution that lays out who is responsible for deciding what is and isn't constitutional. That is the court system and most notably the supreme court which just so happens to be dominated by c! onservatives right now. So my question to you is this. If any ! of the actions of this government have been unconstitutional, then why hasn't the conservative dominated supreme court or any court system been able to prove it as such?I would also ask why, if conservatives so revere the constitution, they would entertain letting the country default on its debts when section 4 of the 14th Amendment of the constitution states "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."...Show more
