Dana Russian: Canon Cameras with image stabilization. the Image stabilization makes a huge difference. 5 to 8 megapixels is all you need if you are talking point & shoot.When/If you buy the camera, ALWAYS use the cameras best settings. Memory cards are so low priced today, that using the poorest compression settings is inexcusable. I keep my cameras set to "superfine" and the image size to the fullest. You will be glad you did....Show more
Lupe Sancen: My experience with film scanners (Minolta) is that they are expensive, tricky to operate and they take ages to scan a frame. Having said that, I did get great results -- probably better than consumer digicams -- but only with very fine grain transparency film and a LOT of fiddling with software. Before you go down this road, go down to your local camera store and ask them to scan you a few frames at various resolutions. If you like the results, see if you can negotiate a volume discount on your boxes of negs. I'll bet! you'll save a ton of time and money doing it this way. Hope this helps....Show more
Everette Rovinsky: Any camera is capable of producing the sharpest image, if used properly. The problem is that few people use their cameras in a way to give them that sharpness. So, first let's get you an affordable decent camera:1) the Canon A570 IS. This is a 7mp, 4x zoom with image stabilization and facial recognition.Next, let's look at the features to give you good sharpness:1) image stabilization will help in dim light to keep your photos sharp.2) facial recognition will help to focus on the right parts of the image, instead of on the background or objects in the foreground.3) moderate # of megapixels means less noise at high ISOs, so high ISO shooting gets better results and high ISOs are good for keeping a fast shuter speed to minimize blur. Now, what can you do to get sharp images?1) steady the camera--use a tripod, or brace yourself and the camera, minimize vibration.2) sho! ot in adequate lighting or use a flash3) avoid digital zoom.4)! make sure image stabilization is on.5) Use the right settings: i.e. sports setting for action6) raise the ISO if the light is dim, to get faster shutter speeds....Show more
Vern Serratos: digital cameras, not film cameras
Rosalva Steinmann: A Nikon D40 with 85mm f1.8 set at f5.6. The D80, D300 and D3 could probably beat it, but you said affordable. There are probably a dozen other Nikon and Canon lenses and cameras which could produce similar results.Hope this helps....Show more
Emery Blando: canon .. I highly recomment the SD 850IS because it has image stabilization and its fast...It has continuous mode for fast action and takes great indoor pictures without the flash..I own this camera and it took me two years to pick on out. I work at best buy and spent a year in the camera department..its really the best for your money.
