Cortez Badolato: You only use a colon to start an extended quotation, like a quoted paragraph. You have to introduce your quote with something like: ...his extreme love for Catherine by saying, "I cannot live without my body..."OR You could just integrate the quote: Heathcliff's extreme love for Catherine is expressed in that "[he] cannot live without [his] body. [He] cannot live without [his] soul." Yes, you need those brackets on there. They allow you to modify the quote. If you show that to your teacher, she will probably be very impressed.And no, a comma does not work here either....Show more
