Buster Exline: actually, my dad is a vedgaterian, and he's kinda plumpish.anyway, it's cuz lots of meat has fat in it, and also that vedgitarians normally don't eat fatty food, and like lots of fruit and vedgitables
Pamela Meno: I was once asked if I could eat poptarts, or animal crackers. I wanted to know if anyone else ever got weird questions?
Gilberto Cratin: Th first thing you need to do is get some books and read some website that deal with vegetarian nutrition. Like any diet you need to eat properly and make sure you are getting the right nutrients(and trust me it is not that hard). I found what most people find hard is the fact that they miss the old meals they used to eat. It takes awhile to learn what your new favorites will be now that you are a vegetarian. Before I went vegetarian my favorites all involved some sort of meat, but now I have new favorite foods(such as veggie stir-fry, stuffed peppers, etc). It may be beneficial to get a cook book and! start looking for new favorite meals.Books:The New Becoming Vegetarian: The Essential Guide To A Healthy Vegetarian Diet by Vesanto Melina and Brenda DavisStudent's Vegetarian Cookbook, Revised: Quick, Easy, Cheap, and Tasty Vegetarian Recipes by Carole Raymond The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook by Judy Krizmanic and Matthew WawiorkaWebsites:http://www.vrg.org/http://www.vegsoc.org/http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Everyday-Cooking/Veg...http://www.theveggietable.com/recipes/easyrecipes.......Show more
Coleman Deliberato: A very common question, but one I still don't get:"So what DO you eat?"Really, what do you mean what do I eat? When I go into the grocery store, MOST of what is in there does not contain dead animal and as such is perfectly fine for my vegetarian diet. So why do you picture me trying to survive on lettuce and celery sticks? Why do so many people assume that just because I am a vegetarian I am suddenly unable to fry me up some potatoes as part of a filling m! eal, or that I magically can't find my spice cabinet any more ! and am doomed to a completely bland diet of only leafy greens?Of course in reality I usually take a deep breath and patiently explain that I eat everything the other person eats (or might eat on a varied diet) minus the animal parts.I just find it really hard to imagine why, with all the food available in our society, most people seem to find it so hard to imagine how one might prepare a complete meatless meal....Show more
Myriam Hetjonk: I have - I don't understand why pple day that all the time....I know a lot of veg's who are big....its prob bc they eat a lot of junk food too or stuff
Giovanna Cramblit: I'm vegan. For some reason, several people have expressed shock that I can eat yeast or mushrooms. I think they were under the impression that vegans ONLY eat things from the plant kingdom (and thus, mushrooms and yeast -- members of the fungi kingdom -- were out). So I would patiently explain that I didn't eat from the animal kingdom, but could eat from all o! ther kingdoms, including the plant kingdom, the fungi kingdom, and the bacteria kingdom. I can also eat non-living things such as water and salt!I have been asked if I can eat gluten. I think because a lot of gluten-free items are also vegan, people think that vegans can't eat gluten. Similarly, people have thought that as a vegan I must only eat organic produce, or I never ate sugar or used a microwave. However, the BEST stupid question from an omnivore comes from a friend of mine, who is a vegan and was breastfeeding her baby a few years back. She said someone asked her how she was able to produce milk if she didn't drink cow's milk....Show more
Renita Sefton: Not all are, but a Vegetarian life style can be very healthy and low in calories. The main reason is meat contains lots of saturated fats. Of course the more vegetables, salads and fruits you eat the healthier and fuller you become, leaving little space for high calorie items.
Jerrod Guilfoil: ok so recen! tly my friend went hunting and took a picture of the deer. he showed it! to me and i almost got sick. i have been wanting to be a vegitarian for a long time. i recently started but it is so hard not to eat meat! im 13 and iv been eating my dads steak and my moms porkchops since i was a toddler i love the taste but i know its a better/healthier lifestyle and i am all for it but it is so hard. im so used to eating meat but iv gotta stop...i need some tips! PLEASE HELP!!!...Show more
Tana Dumoulin: You have so many options!1. Join a produce buying club &/or plan buying in bulk.2. Go to a farm that lets you pick! There are many. Blueberries are $5 for 11oz in my stores. At the farm I paid $3 per 16 oz & I know it is fresh & local, it can be a fun relaxing time if you go with a friend.3. I am a big freebie lover. Nature's free bounty does exist. Buy a book on wild edibles or find a local expert. What could be better than spending time in nature like you always wanted, gaining useful knowledge & free food that just happens to be the healthiest ! on Earth. Wild food is wonderous!4. Just plan, plan, plan & stick with smart choices. Ex.bulk leafy greens cost X, makes X amount of salads, spoils in X amount of time (usually averages a week for leafy greens) but planning is very important on a budget & for being a better human being, I consider wasting food to be a crime, a sin & disgrace.
Dallas Bartolini: cause there a low calories in vegies and fruit compared to the procesed food people eat. we add lots of unheathy stuff 2 our food without knowing it!
Dick Ovdenk: I can't comment on your experience really, because I've met plenty of plump vegetarians. Oils come from vegetables, and cheese and dairy might also be allowed on their list of foods, since they're not meat, and those are all very fattening. So are avocados and nuts, for example. If there is a reason for the vegetarians you know being thin, it could just be that they're more health conscious, so watch their fat and calorie intake in addition to be! ing vegetarian, and make sure to take enough exercise....Show more
Rick Duchane: Not a wierd question. Not everyone knows poptarts have gelatin and not everyone knows what gelatin really is. My mother once asked me if I could eat chicken burritos 3 weeks ago. Shake my head.Carmelina Enoch: Idk, but I think what you're trying to do is very commendable, and likewise about leaving your abusive ex. Good luck
James Langmyer: They lack the neccesary protein that promotes muscle mass and/or body fat. If you pay close attention most vegetarians are not very strong, have actually more body fat than a person who eats meat and also has more dental problems because our teeth are designed for ripping and tearing not mainly for grinding like what is required when you eat vegetables.
Jess Grizzel: They are probably fitness buffs who decided to go the extra mile and change their diet dramatically as well. Being a vegetarian doesn't necessarily make you lose weight, it just helps you to control your diet, which will allow you to make b! etter decisions on what to eat.Plus, half the time you'll end up starving because you can't find anything to eat. Haha.I've been a vegetarian for a while now, and I haven't gained or lost a single pound....Show more
Vern Serratos: I actually have known some slightly overweight ones. I'd say because animal meat has a lot of fat and calories (besides lean meat) and usually if you're vegetarian you are forced to search for other ways to get protein and vitamins which are generally healthy. I would think it would be the opposite because if I couldn't eat meat I'd have pasta and pizza every day haha! But yea I'd say it probably just makes them more conscious of what they eat
Emile Okafor: Those aren't really weird questions. For instance, I've seen poptarts with gelatin in them before, and lots of vegetarians such as myself don't consume gelatin even if the product looks cheery and you can't see an animal haunch sticking out of it :P
Jeremy Donohue: Not many.! The animal crackers comes up. The thing I love/don't understand is som! etimes when I am introduced to people for the first time the person will say this is brian he is a vegan. Just an odd reaction from all.
Rosalva Steinmann: I know some fat vegetarians...That's just a stereotype...
Buster Exline: It's because they have an unhealthy diet and they are slowly dying, to make a long story short.
Demetrius Coaster: IDK but my high school biology teacher was vegetarian and one enormous woman!Generally though it's because veggies are low in calories and fat in comparison to meats.
Estrella Northway: It's not true-I had a weight problem before I quit eating meat and have not lost any weight-but my cholesterol and triglycerides have dropped even lower than they were.
Cletus Crotts: hi i am a vegan as well. I eat oats for breakfast with water sometimes i chop a kiwi or some strawberries or a banana or some almonds and some orange juice or if i have strawberries i usually put them in a blender put some almond milk, bananas ! and drink it. For lunch i usually have some rice salad or salad/ fruit salad. Then for dinner i usually cook some pasta with home made tomato sauce http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-Arrabbiata-Sau... or i make some vegetable soup with lentils or tomato soup if i have lots of tomatoes. Then for snacks i buy corn kernels and make popcorn from them, or some nuts, fruit. I also like roasted chickpeas or almonds so delicious. But hey from time to time i enjoy a packet of crisps but that's just me :) Also you can go to all recipes website and search there for more recipes. Herma Ellebrecht: No I haven't
Marylee Lucks: Rice chickpeas, lentils, dal, peas are all the cheapest foods. Oats, black/fava/pigeon/navy/white beans too.Chickpea curry w. rice.Pumpkin risotto.Tofu w. noodles and shredded cabbage.Black bean tacos and guac.Oats with banana and walnuts and brown sugar.Sweet and sour tofu in ! spicey soup.COconut dal and idli ( steamed rice cakes from S. Boyce Gilhooly: I used to be Vegan but it got too expensive for me since I had to divorce my abusive husband. I will never forget how healthy and energetic I was when I was a 100% Vegan. I would love to receive suggestions on how to eat a clean, natural, and unprocessed Vegan diet. Does anyone of a good vegan cook book that has healthy recipies with common ingredients? I hate it when I buy a cookbook and it has very uncommon and hard to find or expensive ingredients. So I would like to find a cookbook with healthy (not vegan junk food) recipes that are very affordable. I want to eat healthy vegan diet that is very affordable....Show more
Gilberto Cratin: Typically a vegetarian diet has less fat (way less saturated fat) and more fiber. Food with high fiber aids in digestion and gives you a filling of fullness.(I became a vegetarian six months ago. I am in the best shape of my life. I finally lost that last t! en months after two years of trying.)
Monroe Rainey: I've met some really fat vegetarians. How long they've been vegetarian, I don't know, but it's possible. I'll bet it's pretty easy -- just don't exercise and eat lots of cheese, butter, junk food, and etc. But, most vegetarians might also be more aware of general ingredients such as chemical additives, food colouring, msg, and all that junk -- I mean, they generally eat pretty healthy. So, if you eat generally healthy, your body will go to it's optimum weight. Look at the native people all over the world that generally live they way they've lived for the last 1000 years. They are not fat, nor too thin, they are just right. That's what happens when you eat properly etc....Show more
Jose Calaycay: when I'm on diet i eat lots of meat and protein , its the best way of losing weight and keeping strong and healthy ( also there are some veggies who are fat ) you just have to avoid eating chocolates and fats ( in! meats ) to stay fit .
Particia Thorton: The whole "Can vegetaria! ns eat animal crackers." is a lame joke. Pop tarts do contain gelatine, so they aren't vegetarian friendly.
Dallas Bartolini: Not always. I could stand to lose some weight; I've always been pretty plump. I know several vegetarians and vegans who are by no means slender. But hey, if anyone worries about getting enough to eat, I can stand my size 14 bod in front of them and ask if I look like I have trouble getting enough to eat.
Kris Otuafi: could it be the lack of protien...nah
Iris Shawcroft: Idk, but I think what you're trying to do is very commendable, and likewise about leaving your abusive ex. Good luck!
Toby Women: they are out there, I know a few that are overweight
Toby Caswell: Mine are simplest considering they dont consume the fatty meats alot of children consume (breaded fried bird nuggets, McDonalds and so on) however genetics performs a colossal roll too. I additionally purchase healthful, typical snacks most likely in order that! is helping too. The human frame could be very adaptable regardless of what meateaters say. As lengthy as a character is getting the vitamins and minerals they want from a healthful nutrition, it does now not subject what the supply is. Vegan youngsters nonetheless must take a few dietary supplements that are not able to be observed in vegan diets if they don't get adequate or are choosy eaters. Kids DO NOT NEED MEAT TO BE HEALTHY! Cows milk isn't typical for a individual however if you happen to do drink it, move natural....Show more
August Hubbard: eat lots of vegetables and fruit :))))
Freeman Rutkin: There isn't a lot of fat in vegetables.
Theresia Fashaw: Its because they are so health conscious. I am the exception to the rule I am a cuddly vegan, (this is entirely on purpose I do not like being skinny - makes me look odd, I was made for curves).
Rayford Latz: Vegetarians are not always so slender. We are statistically more likely, as a group, ! to maintain a healthy body weight and are statistically less likely, as! a group, to be obese. But statistics don't say anything about individuals and there are certainly overweight vegetarian individuals. I myself am on the high end of the healthy BMI range. My vegetarian boss is about 40-50 pounds overweight (dude eats a LOT and has a penchant for heavy, creamy sauces.)
Lashawnda Anteby: Not true. My parents are veg and they're huge.Everyone's excuse: less fat from not eating meat. Those who choose to be veg tend to be more health conscious to begin with and will fit into the healthy lifestyle anyway.
